The Greater Good – by TapRoom
Craig Nelson, former head brewer of Resident Brewing, has taken a job with San Diego County to work on COVID 19 Relief, providing for The Greater Good. In collaboration with Craig, this beer is double dry-hopped with BSG’s proprietary hop blend Citiva, The Greater Good jumps out of the glass with aromas of peach, mango, and pine. Delicate on the palate, this beer is medium bodied with moderate bitterness and brilliant clarity. Drink a beer for The Greater Good.
Cryo Currency – by TapRoom
We set out to brew a 100% cryo hopped IPA with a definitive West Coast profile, so yeah… it’s bitter. Cryo hops are any lupulin lover’s dream, packed with nearly double the amount of resinous compounds and oils for maximum lupulin flavor and aroma, which is why we love ‘em! We Double Dry Hopped to full saturation with some of our favorites, Cascade & Simcoe, alongside Ekuanot lending to big notes of tangerine, candied lime, melon, papaya, stone fruit and just a touch of pine. Just in time for the weekend at an easy drinking 6.8%, we are really loving this one and we hope you do too!

Lupulin Reign – by TapRoom
A beautiful golden straw color in the glass, the burst of fresh hop aromas of pine and citrus peel immediately greet the nose. A soft malt presence as a backdrop balances the intensely hoppy contributions of Mosaic, Simcoe, and Cascade Cryo hops. Bill used the hopback process, adding even more Mosaic hops, to further extract the delicate hop oils and aromas into this beer that would have otherwise been boiled off. Full-bodied with a longer finish.

A hint of coffee and chocolate on the nose supported by subtle citrus and a breadcrust-like malt profile rounds out this well balanced black lager. Jorge, aka El Oso, joined in on this one to learn more about the brewing process. It’s the least we could do for all the tequila knowledge he’s shared!

COLLABORATIONS
AleSmith / TapRoom BoxCar Speedway Stout
BoxCar Speedway, a collaboration between SD TapRoom & AleSmith brewed to celebrate TapRoom’s 10 yr. Anniversary, is an Imperial Stout Aged in Premium Bourbon Barrels for one year with Madagascar Vanilla Beans, Brazil Forastero Cocoa Nibs, Hatch & Mulato Chilis, and a unique of blend of Columbian & Burundi Coffee locally roasted by Swell Coffee. This year will debut during our 10 year Anniversary party.
The Coffee:
Swell Coffee Co. supplied us with a unique blend of ultra premium Columbian & Burundi coffees, designed to hold up to the strength of this beer, while imparting their own nuanced flavor characteristics.
25% Peaberry grade coffee from Kayanza, Burundi in Africa. Peaberry grade coffee is produced from a natural mutation of the bean inside the cherry, where only a single bean is present inside the cherry providing a denser, sweet, and flavorful coffee.
Tasting Notes: Peach & Butterscotch
75% Finca La Virgen de Oro from Antioquia, Columbia, this is a true Estate coffee meaning it’s beans are milled and packed at the farm, unlike any other Columbian coffee.
Tasting Notes: Strawberry, Floral, Sweet Pepper, & Molasses.
The Chilies:
We used a blend of Hatch & Mulato chilies to further add to the complexity of this beer while contributing a touch of back end heat. The Hatch chilies provide a sweet earthiness, while the Mulato Chilies contribute notes of chocolate, cherry, & tobacco.
Cocoa Nibs & Vanilla Beans:
BoxCar was also aged on Brazil Forastero Cocoa Nibs and a healthy dose of Bourbon Madagascar Vanilla beans, which accentuate the sweeter, complex, whiskey character.
A host of resources, time, & passion went into the making of this collaboration, which we believe come through in the finished product. We are humbled to finally be able to share this project with everyone. Cheers from AleSmith & TapRoom team, enjoy!
